Innovating with Natural Materials
Natural Construction Hub
In collaboration with

The Natural Construction Hub is WEGO’s center for research, innovation, training, and production of regenerative building systems that work in harmony with nature. Our mission is to develop practical, beautiful, and scalable construction solutions that reduce environmental impact while creating healthier, more resilient communities.

The hub serves as a living laboratory where traditional building knowledge meets modern technology. We research, test, and prototype materials such as bamboo, sustainably harvested timber, earth, lime, stone, mycelium, bio-based composites, recycled materials, and natural fibers, combining them with digital fabrication, engineering, and modern construction techniques.

Key focus areas include:
-
Regenerative building materials and systems
-
Bamboo and engineered timber construction
-
Earth-based construction (rammed earth, compressed earth blocks, adobe, cob)
-
Bio-based insulation and natural finishes
-
Modular and prefabricated housing systems
-
Furniture and interior products
-
Climate-responsive tropical architecture
-
Circular construction and material reuse
-
Digital fabrication, CNC machining, and rapid prototyping
The hub will include workshops for woodworking, bamboo fabrication, metalworking, CNC machining, and material testing, alongside classrooms and demonstration buildings where visitors, students, researchers, and professionals can learn through hands-on experience.
Working closely with architects, engineers, universities, artisans, manufacturers, and industry partners, the Natural Construction Hub aims to accelerate the adoption of regenerative construction across Nicaragua and beyond.
More than a research center, it will become a place where ideas are transformed into real buildings—demonstrating that the future of construction can be beautiful, affordable, resilient, and regenerative.
